IDL2020 Highlights: Illuminating Life Online Event
Due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, various IDL2020 events adopted online formats and virtual celebrations around 16 May to celebrate the role of light in our daily lives. This includes the interactive Illuminating Life online gathering.
Participants were shown the new #SEETHELIGHT video and explained various light phenomena such as reflection, refraction, diffraction and dispersion. These activities were hosted by Rishabh Rohilla, Shubham Thakur and Abhishek Deswal, and was attended by an international audience of over 100, including participants from India, Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Iraq, Egypt, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Canada, Belgium, Italy, United Kingdom and more.
The event was supported by the Shamta Foundation, Elixir, Lume Solar, and SPIE. The event also featured speakers from these partner organizations who discussed the role of light in science, culture and art, education and sustainable development.
The IDL Secretariat is grateful to the event's organizers and participants for contributing to the global reach and success of the 2020 International Day of Light.
